COACHELLA, Calif. — October 31, 2026. City residents have an opportunity to review proposed water and sewer rate changes for 2027 through 2031 before any final decision on what utility customers will pay.
The City of Coachella announced that its council adopted cost-of-service studies on October 14, 2026. Those studies provide a basis for proposed increases; adoption of a study is not the same as final approval of every future rate.
Public meetings and bill estimates
The city’s water and sewer rate information and public notices direct customers to the bill estimator for an address-specific illustration of possible changes. The city announced additional public discussions in November, following an October 22 meeting at Bagdouma Park.
One official city announcement listed a November 10 meeting, 6–8 p.m. at Coachella Library, while a separate city update listed November 12. Residents should confirm the correct date with the city before traveling and follow official Proposition 218 notices and hearing records.
Questions worth asking
Customers may want to know how the proposed increases differ by meter size and usage, how wastewater charges appear on bills, which infrastructure projects are funded and what financial assistance is available. The city’s current rate schedule should not be confused with proposed future figures.
