COACHELLA, Calif. — October 31, 2026. A proposed partnership with Animal Samaritans could make spay-and-neuter services more accessible to eligible pet owners living in Coachella.
The city’s October 14 City Council agenda, Item 16, proposed authorizing a $20,000 sponsorship agreement with the nonprofit organization for free pet sterilization services for city residents.
What remains to be confirmed
The agenda identifies the requested expenditure and purpose. It does not, by itself, establish the final vote, the number of procedures funded, eligibility standards or when individual appointments can be booked. Residents should not assume they have a free appointment until the provider confirms the program.
Where to ask about services
Coachella’s animal services directory identifies Riverside County Animal Services and the Animal Samaritans clinic at the Coachella Valley Animal Campus, 72-050 Pet Land Place, Thousand Palms. The city’s listed provider contact is 760-343-3644.
Pet owners should ask about residency documentation, appointment availability, vaccinations, weight or age requirements and whether the sponsored services are open to their animals.
Why it matters
Affordable sterilization can reduce the financial burden of pet care and support humane animal management. The proposal is a municipal funding question, not a guarantee of service for every resident.
